Introduction to Oil Monotype Course

1 Day Course : 10.30 am - 5.30 pm

There will be a lunch break  from 1.30 -2.30.pm

Tea and coffee breaks will be provided in the kitchen.

This introductory course will cover basic oil-based monotype techniques, mark-marking and multi-layered prints. The course has a set structure with practical exercises to learn and try out monotyping on an etching press.

Working on your own plate, participants can experiment with monotype techniques, developing at
least 3 prints during the course of the day.

Course contents:  
• Intro to basic monotype                                   
• Reduction drawing and mark-making for monotype                                    
• Multi-layer printing and registration

Please bring:          
• Drawings or ideas for drawings to work from

Feel free to bring any oil paints and brushes you may want to use. A range of inks and brushes will be available at the studio during the course.                            

Please wear suitable clothing as you will be working with ink and other etching print materials. Aprons and all materials are provided.

Wear sturdy and appropriate shoes: e.g., trainers, closed leather shoes or work boots - NOT open-toed sandals, flip-flops or you might be refused entrance to the studio.

Please arrive promptly for courses as time is limited. It is essential to attend each day of the course.
