Introduction to Woodcut Course
1 Day Course : 10.30am - 5.30pm
There will be a lunch break from 1.30 -2.30.
Tea and coffee breaks will be provided.
This course will teach the method of Woodcut Printing from Jonathan Ashworth, a professional artist providing enthusiastic tuition and advice at a high technical Level. Using high quality cutting tools, beautiful rollers and sumptuous oil based inks; this is a class for those that enjoy the physicality of materials.
Jonathan Ashworth is an artist who specializes in the production of traditional woodcuts and wood engravings. These are two closely related methods of printmaking that produce beautiful textured surfaces and feelings of otherworldliness through the use of extremely fine and intricate marks.
Jonathan studied at the Royal College of Art, from where he graduated with first class honours in 2006, having previously completed a Fine Art undergraduate degree in Edinburgh. After exhibiting widely across the UK he won Young Artist Of The Year 2012 at the Biscuit Factory (Newcastle).

• Cutting techniques
• Production of multi-layered image
• Use of different inks
• An image of any size or medium to work from.
Please wear suitable clothing, as you will be working with ink and other intaglio print materials. Aprons and all materials are provided.
Wear sturdy and appropriate shoes: e.g., trainers, closed leather shoes or work boots - NOT open-toed sandals, flip-flops or you might be refused entrance to the studio.
