Director’s News – July 2014

NicolaReed

I’m delighted that on 1 July the Arts Council confirmed it’s commitment to continue supporting londonprintstudio during 2015 to 2018. ACE funding enables the studio to provide such a wide range of opportunities and support services to artists and the general public, and inclusion in the ACE’s National Portfolio is a reflection of the high quality and excellence that is at the heart of our programme. This is also reflected in the very positive feedback we receive from members using the facilities and people attending our courses.

In planning the coming months we are looking to celebrate the studio’s birthday, which, depending on your point of view, is 40 years after November 1974 when Pippa Smith and I moved into Marylands Community Centre (now Yaa Asantewaa Arts Centre) and began building the facilities while making posters with community groups, and May 1st 1975 when we officially opened to the public with Arts Council support. In order to make the best of both dates, we will plan to hold an extended celebration. I hope you’ll come and join us.
