Artist Residency – Louise Heckl
londonprintstudio has designed a special residency programme, for international and local artists who wish to come to London to use studio facilities as part of a working vacation.
This month the lps team were delighted to introduce Louise Heckl to the studio, who currently works and lives in South Africa. Louise used our studio facilities to develop a print and packaging project ‘in the box‘, producing an edition of prints from woodcuts, which were then folded into boxes and introduced as a new concept for packaging.
The images used to illustrate the boxes were inspired by Louise’s trip to London, printed on a variety of different textures and recycled papers using our Vandercook Letterpress. ‘in the box’ incorporates fine art prints in signed editions on packaging, ‘in the box is the perfect corporate gift or product packaging as it is a unique signed fine art print. It could be opened and framed and not be part of a landfill but add value to the gift in the box. Designs would be executed according to the client’s need for the packaging. Branding, display and presentation possibilites are endless’.
Louise talks about her time during her residency at londonprintstudio:
‘Thank you for making my residency the most special, creative, time I have had for a long while. I have been inspired, met amazing people, learnt a tremendous amount, observed many things, but most of all I enjoyed the studio!’
