The Studio of the North West

work by Faisal Abdu'Allah at Cafe gallery, Southwark Park, London .

The Studio of the North West is a free, 2-day collaborative project at londonprintstudio on the 20th & 21st July 2012, led by leading artist Faisal Abdu’Allah, with the generous support of The Steven Campbell Trust. Participants will use photography to explore how we see ourselves and others.

The Studio of the North West is a short collaborative project where the content is shaped by the participants experiences, encouraging them to look at their own identity through the lens that focuses on home, identity and the concept of community.  Enabling them with tools that assist in unpacking the kaleidoscopic complexity of how their own personal stories become transferred as artifacts that may sit in the public or gallery domain.

The project will be run by Faisal Adbu’Allah, whose work primarily evolves from the interface of photography, the printed image and lens-based installation, more recently moving image has featured in his practice. This has enabled him to reposition values and ideologies pertaining to representation.

For any artists interested in self-identity and representation this workshop is unmissable.  Faisal will guide participants through exercises in photography, drawing, collage, writing and audio recording that will help bring the participants self-identity to the forefront of their work.

Space is extremely limited for this workshop, so we are asking all those interested to apply using writing and images to show how the workshop would benefit their practice.

To apply, please download an Applcation Form here: The Studio of the North West Application and return it by email to by Friday 6 July 2012 at 5:30pm.
