The Enchanted Page – Journeys
The best of contemporary illustration for children
Exhibition runs January 20th, 2017 – April 13th, 2017
Tuesday – Saturday 10.30am – 5.30pm
Our exhibition of contemporary children’s illustration brings together the most magical images – and this year’s theme is journeys. Featuring the work of international prize winning children’s book illustrators, this show creates a vibrant space in which children can explore different narratives and images, supported by quizzes, workshops and organised visits. This is an interactive show with illustrations and cut outs. There is an art trail where children can read, draw, and tell stories. The exhibition is filled with enchanting images and characters.
This year we were all moved by news stories about children’s journeys, and curators John Phillips and Nadia Yahiaoui decided to feature this theme in our exhibition. So we have French artist Olivier Latyk‘s beautiful laser cut illustrations that show a boy’s adventures flying with migrating geese; Waterstone’s 2016 Children’s Book Award winner David Litchfield with The Bear and The Piano, and Eda Akaltun with her story about bagel loving New York bulldog Marcel, along with many others. Our show is inspired by beautiful book illustrations by acclaimed artists and is suitable for all children up to the age of 11, and for anyone interested in contemporary illustration.
The show features work by the following illustrators:
Eda Akaltun, Jim Field, Olivier Latyk, David Litchfield, Daniel Egnéus, Marc Martin, Frann Preston-Gannon, Oliver Jeffers, David Roberts, Christian Robinson, Brendan Wenzel, Sonny Ross and Sam Winston.
Workshops are available for school groups during the exhibition.
