Claire Robert Nicoud
Claire is an emerging franco british artist inspired by patterns occurring in nature. Her spectacular botanical illustrations reflect an interest in scientific observation; the botanical illustrations and print series are beginning to find an international market.
Claire's work is influenced by Nicholas Robert, the great 17th century French illustrator; and by the Bauer brothers, who worked at the Austrian Court and at Kew Gardens during the 18th century. Contemporary influences include David Mackay and the late Rory McEwan. Claire was educated at the University of Leicester and studied at the Musee de Trompe L'Oeil. Her studio is in South West France.
Claire's work process is meticulous - she explores the forests, gardens and markets of South West France in different seasons, and tends her own modest garden collecting specimens, from which she produces her watercolour studies. In collaboration with londonprintstudio, these are then developed into limited series of digital prints. |
