workshop & studio facilities
londonprintstudio provides a range of traditional and new media resources right in the heart of london. as a student on the masters course, you may choose to specialise in one or two methods of printmaking, or experiment in several, according to your self-directed programme.
students are encouraged to develop a socially engaged artistic practice, whereby technical needs and expertise are recognised by reconciling ideas with practical concerns.
the printstudio offers resources for:
• water-based screenprinting
• offset plate and photo lithography
• traditional stone lithography
• solar plate processing
• traditional etching on copper, zinc and steel
• relief printing for woodblock and linoleum
the digitalstudio offers a range of equipement including:
• 4 x G5 macs dual processor 2.7 GHz 512MB 250Ghd OSX
• 1 x A3 scanner. Flatbed. Scan up to 12800 dpi.
• 1 x A4 scanner. Flatbed with facility for transparency and negative
scanning. Scan up to12800 dpi.
• 1 x A3/ A4 colour printer. Epson 2100 colour printer with high
quality prints using archival quality inks. Resolution of 2880
dpi.
• a range of creative software is available for desktop publishing
and image creation including Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign.
• Internet access.
the projectstudio handles all digital large-format and edition printing. using the epson 3800 or epson 9600 printer, high quality giclee prints are editioned here onto cotton papers similar to those in the traditional printmaking studios.
printing is offered as an additional service, and masters students will receive priority booking.
students on the MA course will receive basic inductions in all traditional areas of printmaking, as well as computer workshops as needed.
