about the programme
The course will support students to:
- develop personal art practice to a professional level
- develop new printmaking, image-making and research skills
- develop critical reflection and the ability to write about art
The course is supported by artists, critics and gallery professionals with regular taught sessions one day per week, and a second day of self-motivated study, negotiated with the course leader and support staff. The programme is underpinned by regular input and tutorials by academic staff from the Bucks Visual and Material Culture Team, The course runs in parallel with the MA in Printmaking based at Buckinghamshire New University and offers opportunities for students based at londonprintstudio to engage in workshops offered at the university enabling a healthy interchange of ideas and practice.
Key features of the course include:
- well equipped workshops for traditional print methods and digital technology
- the opportunity to work alongside well known artists in a studio that services key London galleries and art businesses including V&A, Hayward Gallery, Tate Gallery, Christies Education, and the British Council.
- a core team and invited lecturers who, by virtue of their own practice and research, provide an environment of live and contemporary debate during taught lessons
- a strong partnership between Bucks New University and the londonprintstudio
- field trips to important artistic centres including New York
- close proximity to London galleries
- organised talks at British Museum & V&A printrooms
- a comprehensive guest lecture programme. Past speakers at Bucks have included artists: David Shrigley, Richard Wentworth, Dan Coombs, Keith Wilson and Andrei Jackowski, and a range of key curators , critics and technical experts
